Check a Chinese Supplier’s CCC Certificate
Check a Chinese supplier’s CCC certificate against the ordered model, production site and current record, including the transition from self-declarations.
Start with the Chinese legal name or USCC. Confirm the matching company before opening its profile.
To verify a Chinese supplier’s CCC certificate, look up the record through the named issuer or a regulator, then compare its current status, complete product model and production site with your order. A certificate number that can be found is only the beginning: the record must describe the goods and manufacturing arrangement you are actually buying.

CCC, also called 3C, means China Compulsory Certification. The U.S. International Trade Administration’s China standards guide places it within China’s product market-access system. For an overseas purchase, ask what the supplier is using the certificate to demonstrate. Evidence for a Chinese product certification requirement does not, by itself, establish that goods can be placed on your destination market. Keep that separate question with the person responsible for product compliance.
Three names on the certificate
The company selling to you may not occupy every role on the certificate. China’s CCC administrative provisions, as amended in 2022, distinguish the certification applicant, product manufacturer and, where applicable, entrusted production enterprise. These are useful distinctions for a buyer: the sales contact, the organization responsible for manufacturing and the actual production site need to be connected without pretending they are necessarily the same business.
| Certificate role | Connection to establish |
|---|---|
| Certification applicant | Identify who applied for the certification and how that company relates to the supplier presenting it. |
| Product manufacturer | Identify the manufacturer named for the certified product, rather than assuming the brand or sales company is the manufacturer. |
| Production enterprise | Where separately named, identify the enterprise and location making the product that will fulfil the order. |
Preserve the original company names while adding translations for colleagues. A shortened English trading name is convenient in correspondence but can conceal which legal entity a record identifies. Ask the supplier to explain the relationship in writing and provide the relevant business details. If a trading company presents a factory’s certificate, the useful question is whether that factory will make the ordered goods. The mere presence of two different names does not establish dishonesty; an unexplained relationship remains an unanswered purchasing question.
For bilingual review, the market regulator’s English version of the provisions helps distinguish the applicant, manufacturer and production enterprise. Use it alongside the Chinese names on the actual document. When a translation collapses all three into “supplier,” return to the original fields before seeking clarification. A colleague should be able to tell which organization was checked and which relationship still depends on the supplier’s explanation.
Models and production sites
Read the certificate together with its referenced attachments and the product specification you are buying. The following field notes are a reading aid, not a replica of an official certificate. They describe practical comparisons a buyer can make. If the file ends with a reference to a model schedule that has not been supplied, ask for that schedule before interpreting the range. A product-family name on the first page may be too broad to identify your particular configuration.
The provisions identify circumstances in which product details, important technical changes or production-site changes require certification action. For a buyer, the practical implication is to reopen the affected comparison when the order changes. Do not independently decide that a different component, manufacturing site or model suffix is insignificant. Ask the supplier to explain its effect on the certification and obtain issuer clarification when the answer determines whether you can rely on the document.
Keep product certification separate from the other documents in the supplier pack. The ISO 9001 certificate guide deals with management-system scope and sites. The product test report guide deals with the tested sample and reported results. A supplier may legitimately send all of these, but one cannot fill an unexplained gap in another merely because the same logo, company or product photograph appears across the files.
The live certification record
Start from a regulator or the named issuer’s independently located website. For certificates issued by CQC, its English certificate inquiry page provides CCC certificate and factory inquiry options. The page also separates other certification services. Select the relevant category; do not assume that a result under another service verifies a CCC claim. CQC’s page is an issuer-specific route, not a promise that every Chinese certification body’s records are searchable there.
The practical task is to compare a retrieved result with the supplied copy and your order. Save the query date, query terms, issuer, visible status and relevant product details. If the system offers only limited information, record that limitation rather than filling the gaps from the supplier’s PDF. We reviewed the public inquiry entry point for this guide, without submitting a particular supplier certificate or asserting that every search field returns the same information.
These are different outcomes and deserve different follow-ups. If a factory address matches but the ordered model is absent, another company-name search will not settle the missing model. If a certificate number resolves but the current status conflicts with the copy, asking for a business license will not resolve the status. Send the exact discrepancy to the party capable of answering it, retaining both versions so the reply can address the actual difference.
Self-declarations in transition
A document described as a CCC self-declaration needs a product-specific and date-specific review. Do not reject it solely because it is not a conventional certificate, or accept it indefinitely because an older guide describes self-declaration as the applicable route. SAMR Announcement No. 57 of 2025, published in January 2026, sets a transition for 16 specified product types. Its dates do not apply indiscriminately to every product bearing a CCC mark.
The notice preserves an exception for products already released from the factory during a valid self-declaration period and no longer being produced: those do not require conversion and may continue to be sold. When a supplier relies on this exception, ask how the actual goods and production history satisfy it. An old PDF alone does not explain whether the goods in your order qualify. Check the notice’s product list and conditions with the issuer when the classification is uncertain.
For a purchasing team, a delivery date extending across a transition should prompt a specific question about the documentation that will accompany the goods. Avoid accepting “we have always used this document” as an answer to a dated change. At the same time, do not demand conversion under this announcement from a supplier whose product falls outside its scope. Keep the product classification, relevant dates and supplier explanation together so a colleague does not apply the timeline to the wrong goods.
Evidence for the order
Write the result in terms of the product and documents actually reviewed. Separate facts retrieved independently from statements supplied by the seller, and identify what remains unresolved. This lets another buyer continue the work without turning a partial check into a general approval. The example below is deliberately a template, not a report about a real company; replace each bracketed item only with information you actually obtained.
On [query date], we checked [certificate number] through [issuer or regulator]. The returned record showed [status] for [model] and [factory]. We compared it with [order specification and version]. The supplier states that production will take place at [location]. We still need [specific missing document or clarification] before accepting this certificate for that order.
The destination-market review remains separate. If goods will be placed on the EU market, the guide to a Chinese supplier’s CE documents explains that different task. Likewise, a CCC record does not answer whether a company is financially sound, can deliver on time or will honour the contract. ChinaValidate’s company search can help you check Chinese company identities and records; it does not issue CCC certificates or replace the certification body’s assessment. Use each source for the question it can actually answer.
